POKEMON TCG is Launching a Virtual Team Tournament Soon
Pokémon TCG is getting ready to launch a new virtual tournament for fans to enjoy through Pokémon TCG Online. Titled the Play! Pokémon Team Challenge, the tournament will be open to Masters Division players (must be 18 years or older in Brazil) and will kick off on December 5 and run for 6 months. Players will need to register later this month and make sure that there’s a nearby store participating in the event.
During the Team Challenge, individual stores will host Qualifier tournaments in Pokémon TCG Online. The winners will be used to create a team to represent the store. It is currently expected that the Qualifiers will run for 10 weeks, ending on February 28, 2021. Once teams have been created, they will be entered in an elimination bracket of 3v3 round-robin competition aiming for 5 or more wins in order to advance. As you progress, you’ll move from playing others in your city to your region, nation, and even the world. The round-robin is also expected to last for 10 weeks starting March 20, 2021. Finally, the tournament will end at the Grand Final in late May 2021.
Players should be aware the Team Challenge will use the 2021 Standard format which will include the Sword & Shield – Vivid Voltage expansion and new expansions will be incorporated as they launch.
