POKEMON UNITE Releases on Nintendo Switch in July
Pokémon Unite is the upcoming MOBA game from The Pokémon Company and TiMi Studio Group announced a year ago. In a new announcement, it was revealed that the game will release on the Nintendo Switch this July with mobile devices getting the game in September. Pokémon Unite will be free-to-start with in-game purchases available. In addition, the game will support cross-platform play so that you can play with friends regardless of preferred platforms.
The game will feature two teams of five Pokémon battling it out on Aeos Island to take top prize. You’ll start in your chosen Pokemon’s basic form with the ability to evolve as you play. During the game, you’ll score points by defeating wild and opposing Pokémon and then depositing said energy in one of the opposing team’s goal zones. There are various stadiums for matches to be held, each with their own set of rules including different team sizes.
Some of the Pokémon we’ve seen as playable include Absol, Pikachu, Scorbunny, Froakie, Lucario, Snorlax, Charizard, Machamp, Slowbro, Blastoise, Venusaur, Garchomp,. Gardevoir, and Mr. Mime. In addition, you can customize the appearance of both your Pokémon and your trainer. Using Holowear, you can give your Pokémon new outfits like pants or a hat. This sounds like a lot of fun. Also, you may not want to choose your favorite Pokémon as each one will have different stats and roles (Attacker, Defender, Speedster, Supporter, or All-Rounder) that reflect their playstyle. Only after some practice will you be able to find your perfect companion.
I’m excited for Pokémon Unite. I think it’ll be a lot of fun. What do you think though? What Pokémon are you hoping to play as?
