Popular WEBTOON Rom-Com Comic TRUE BEAUTY Gets a Live-Action Korean Show
WEBTOON seems to just be growing and growing. The webcomic platform has seen success in partnering with Crunchyroll to bring some of the comics to anime fans and overseas, they’ve been seeing additional success with live-action adaptations for some of the comics.
Well, WEBTOON recently announced that Rakuten Viki is going to be bringing their live-action adaptation of True Beauty exclusively to the US next week. The series is a Korean romantic comedy and currently has over 5 million followers on the comic platform.
The series is directed by Kim Sang Hyub and stars Moon Ga Young (Find Me in Your Memory), Cha Eun Woo from the Korean boy band Astro, Park Yoo Na (Skycastle), and Hwang In Yeop (18 Again). The original webcomic is written by Yaongyi.
True Beauty follows the story of a high schooler named Im Ju Yeong (Young), who sees her social standing skyrocket as she masters the art of makeup from YouTube. But will her elite status be short-lived? How long can she keep her real self a secret? And what about that cute boy, Lee Su Ho (Woo), who knows her secret?
