Poster and Photos Released for SCREAM Feature Ghostface and the Full Cast - "It's Always Someone You Know"
A new poster and a collection of photos have been released for the upcoming new film Scream movie. The poster features Ghostface back in action, wielding a knife and ready to kill. The photos offer us a first look at the return of Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescot, David Arquette as Dewy Riley and Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers. We are also introduced to the new generation of characters who have go
The new Scream film comes from the filmmaking team behind Ready or Not, Radio Silence team Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet, and the rest of the cast includes Melissa Barrera (In the Heights), Jenna Ortega (The Fallout), Mason Gooding (Tragedy Girls), Jack Quaid (The Boys), and Dylan Minnette (13 Reasons Why).
When talking about the return of the original franchise characters during an interview with EW, Bettinelli-Olpin said, "They were not disposable roles; they were very, very important and the heartbeat of what was great about the script. We couldn't imagine the movie without any of them and so not having that perfectly locked-in right off the bat was definitely scary."
When talking about shooting the film without original director Wes Craven, Cox shared, "From the second I walked on the set, I felt extremely emotional and felt a real missing and longing for him. He had such [a] special, kind, and caring quality about him, not to mention his incredible talent as a filmmaker. I looked up to Wes immensely professionally but also as a friend. I feel Wes would be so happy with the way Matt and Tyler have rebooted this franchise."
Arquette added, "I'm not overly religious or anything, but I definitely was speaking to him, praying about it. It brought back a ton of memories of Wes, and that was emotional, you know, but it was beautiful. There were little signs. There were certain takes where the wind would blow, and, I don't know, I just felt his energy."
Director Tyler Gillett went on to talk about keeping the ending of the film a secret from the cast, saying, "We were really careful to protect the big reveal of the movie. We went as far as to withhold those moments in the script from the actors. We wanted everybody involved, to the degree that we could, to be a part of the whodunit. Obviously, you get to a point in the shoot where you have to let the cat out of the bag, but we went pretty far into prep and into production with a surprising amount of secrecy maintained."
As far as story details go, all we know right now is that “it will follow a woman returning to her hometown to try to find out who has been committing a series of vicious crimes.” The filmmakers also previously shared that they really wanted to make a film that respects the previous movies that Craven made, but also wanted to welcome a whole new audience to the franchise.
When previously talking about the movie, Scream creator Kevin Williamson said, “I’m excited for you to return to Woodsboro and get really scared again. I believe Wes would’ve been so proud of the film that Matt and Tyler are making. I’m thrilled to be reunited with Neve, Courteney, David and Marley, and to be working alongside a new filmmaking team and incredible cast of newcomers that have come together to continue Wes’s legacy with the upcoming relaunch of the franchise that I hold so dear to my heart.”
I’m curious to see how the creative team behind the film pulls this off. I’m a huge fan of the Scream franchise and I’m actually pretty excited to see where this next film, takes the story.
Scream is scheduled to hit theaters on January 14, 2022. Check out the photos below and expect a trailer to drop soon!
