Poster Art For Netflix's DEATH NOTE Features The Shinigami Ryuk
The drought of news on Netflix's Death Note has been broken as our first look at Ryuk has been revealed! Granted, it's not a fantastic one, but it does give us a general look at the differences between the anime version and the live action version. For example, live-action Ryuk's general head shape looks a bit more Willem Dafoe than the anime, which I suppose is fitting considering he's playing him. Check out his shadow in the poster, and let us know how you feel about this project!
Based on the famous Japanese manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, Death Note follows a high school student who comes across a supernatural notebook, realizing it holds within it a great power; if the owner inscribes someone’s name into it while picturing their face, he or she will die. Intoxicated with his new godlike abilities, the young man begins to kill those he deems unworthy of life.
The movie also stars Nat Wolff (Paper Towns) as Light Turner, Margaret Qualley (The Nice Guys) as Mia Sutton, Keith Stanfield (Straight Outta Compton) as “L,” Paul Nakauchi (Alpha and Omega) as Watari, and Shea Whigham (Agent Carter) as James Turner.
Death Note will premiere on Netflix this summer on August 25th.
