Poster Art For THE TOXIC AVENGER Created By Artist James Bousema For Mondo

Mondo has a print currently up for sale from the classic 1986 Troma cult classic film The Toxic Avenger. This is one of those bonkers movies that you just have to experience for yourself. It’s complete madness!

The poster art was created by artist James Bousema, who said: "THE TOXIC AVENGER has such a special balance of tasteless comedy and heartfelt heroics.

“When I was given the opportunity to design this poster, I approached it with that balance in mind. Silly in nature, but posed like a pulp fantasy poster. All toxic sludge and muscles."

Art director Josh Manderville added: "James put the same love and care into this unlikely hero from New Jersey as he’s done for so many of his apocalyptic-hellscape metal album covers.

“As the first cult horror film I was permanently scarred by as a child, I couldn’t have been more excited to have James on this poster. I can already smell the hydrogen sulfide fumes coming off of it!"

The Toxic Avenger is a horror-comedy that tells the story of Melvin Ferd, a nerdy and socially awkward janitor who works at a health club in the fictional town of Tromaville.

After being mercilessly bullied by gym-goers, Melvin falls into a vat of toxic waste, which disfigures him but also gives him superhuman strength and powers. He transforms into the Toxic Avenger, a grotesque yet heroic figure who sets out to rid Tromaville of corruption and crime, using his newfound abilities to brutally punish wrongdoers.

The film is a mix of over-the-top violence, dark humor, and campy comedy and it’s unique and absurd take on the superhero genre.
