Poster For The Elton John Biopic ROCKETMAN and a Featurette Focusing on Taron Egerton Singing

If you’re an Elton John fan, I’m sure you’re looking forward to seeing how his upcoming biopic Rocketman turns out. Today we’ve got a wild new look at actor Taron Egerton in the role of John thanks to a poster that was released. We also have a behind-the-scenes featurette for you to watch that showcases Egerton’s singing ability, because he will actually be singing in the film, not faking it.

While I think that’s fine and Egerton is a decent singer, he is no where as good as Elton John was in his prime. But he certainly put in the effort, and it looks like it will pay off.

The movie has also been described as, "a biographical musical fantasy that will weave together John’s life and his music." The story will follow his emergence as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music to become a music superstar "who rebelled against his strict upbringing, wore outrageous costumes and became a global icon who teamed with songwriter Bernie Taupin to sell more records than just about any musical artist of his era."

Dexter Fletcher (Bohemian Rhapsody) is attached to helm the project from a script written by Lee Hall. Egerton will be joined by Jamie Bell (TURN: Washington’s Spies), Richard Madden (Game of Thrones), and Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom). When previously talking about the film, the director said:

“It’s a musical fantasy, not a biopic. We have Elton’s songs and Elton’s life story, or a part of it. And it is a fantasy version of real life. It is a true fantasy. So I am looking to create something that will entertain and inform and amaze and do many, many things.”

Check out the featurette below and let us know what you think of Egerton taking on this role. Do you think he’ll be able to pull it off? The movie hits theaters on May 31, 2019.
