Potential STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE Actor on His Love for the Franchise
Ben Mendelsohn is reportedly in line to take on a role in Gareth Edwards' Star Wars: Rogue One. This guy is an incredibly talented actor. I just watched the Netflix series he starred in called Bloodline, which was intense as hell! He also starred alongside Ryan Reynolds in an indie film that I saw at Sundance called Mississippi Grind.
I really hope he iscast in Rogue One, because he’ll bring a lot of weight to whatever character he plays. EW caught up with the actor and asked about his involvement with the film. Here's what he said:
"I’m absolutely not sure about any of this at all. It sounds great, and certainly — Wouldn’t that be nice?"
It would be nice! While he plays coy about being involved with the movie, he did talk about his love for the franchise. He was asked about the original trilogy, and if it was a touchstone for him growing up, and this was his reply:
"Enormous. Enormous! I mean, enormous! I’m the kid who had the whole set of trading cards. Enormous! I mean, I was born in 1969. The first one comes out in what, ‘77? The first Star Wars film was an enormously important. I grew up right smack-bang in the sweet spot of all of those. It’s true cinema magic. It’s fair to say that as a kid I would have been very happy to be Han Solo, and I would have been happy to have gone out with Princess Leia. If I could have had Chewie at my side through some difficult times, forget about it."
It will be great to see him in the movie if he’s actually cast. It’s set to be released on December 16th, 2016.
