POWER RANGERS: BATTLE FOR THE GRID Looks Awesome But Worrisome; Watch The Trailer
If you’re wanting a new Power Rangers video game, you’re in luck. Hasbro and nWay recently announced Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid. This game will be available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and to make things even better, cross-play (the ability to play with people on different systems) appears to be one of their main goals with the game. I am a huge proponent of cross-play, and I love Power Rangers, so this could be a big win in my book.
While I am excited for the game because I love the concept of a Power Rangers fighting game, I am very wary of Battle for the Grid. Based solely on the trailer, it looks very similar to Power Rangers: Legacy Wars which used mechanics I wasn’t a big fan of. Now, I’m not the only one seeing similarities as the official Twitter for Battle for the Grid has come out and addressed this concern:
They’re not the only ones either as Jason Bischoff, the Power Rangers Franchise Creative Director for Hasbro, has come out and shot down the idea that it’s a Legacy Wars port:
I’m still a little hesitant about the game, but I’ll hold final judgements until I see more gameplay videos. One of the best parts about this game is the price though. Instead of $60 like most games these days, Battle for the Grid can be pre-ordered for only $19.99. By pre-ordering you get a digital art book, and the Green Ranger V2 Skin. If you pre-order the Digital Collector’s Edition for an additional $20, you’ll also get a Season One Pass that includes three additional characters, Lord Drakkon Evo II Skin, and a Pink Ranger Skin.
Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid will be released April 2019.
