POWER RANGERS Will Be Rebooted as a Movie Again with an All New Cast
We all knew that we would be getting another Power Rangers movie in the near future. What we didn’t know, was if that movie would be a sequel to the the 2017 flop or if it would be a complete reboot. Well, today we have our answer thanks to Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery, who played the Red Ranger in the last movie.
According to the actor any plans for a sequel to the 2017 film have been scrapped and Hasbro plans on rebooting the franchise with a whole new cast of actors. During a Reddit AMA, Montgomery was asked if there were any plans for more Power Rangers movies and this was his response:
"I think there is a movie in the works but it's not with me and the cast. So yes but not with us.”
That’s as clear as he could possibly be regarding the future of the franchise. I didn’t really care for the last Power Rangers movie, but a lot of fans actually did enjoy it. I guess it doesn’t really matter at this point what anyone thought of that film because the next movie will end up being something completely new.
When previously talking about the future of the franchise, Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner said that Power Rangers would provide a "significant opportunity for growth given where the brand had been most recently" and that "Hasbro will work with a film studio to develop a new Power Rangers movie as a follow-up to the 2017 release."
I’m curious to see what Hasbro will end up doing with the franchise next and how they will play with it as they continue to cash in on the brand. Power Rangers is a seriously wild and crazy franchise with a lot of potential. Hopefully, they embrace that as they move forward and give fans something completely badass!
