POWERPUFF GIRLS and FOSTER'S HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS Are Getting Series Reboots

Craig McCracken, the creator of The Powerpuff Girls and Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends, has teamed with Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, and they will work together on reviving these animated classics. McCracken actually started his career at Hanna-Barbera Cartoons 30 years ago, so this should be a very cool experience for him.

The Powerpuff Girls reboot will revisit and expand “upon the world of the original series as Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup face off against a gallery of villains comprised of familiar foes and new threats.” Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup live a crazy life alternating between going to school, fighting crime, winning at hopscotch, and saving the world before bedtime.

I used to watch this series with my girls when they were younger, and it’s one of those animated shows that I actually enjoyed watching with them. It always managed to entertain. There’s currently a live-action series in development at The CW

As for Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, it will return as “an original preschool animated series with a new cast of preschool-aged imaginary friends, promised to be as silly and playful as the original bunch. The original series ran for six seasons from 2004-2009 on Cartoon Network.

Sam Register, President of Cartoon Network Studios, Warner Bros. Animation, and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe said in a statement: “The Hanna-Barbera homecoming of Craig was an opportunity we could not pass up. Along with his unparalleled sense of fun and imagination, he’s bringing two of his greatest works in The Powerpuff Girls and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends and we are so excited for these characters to be a part of the new legacy taking shape at the studio.”

What do you think about these two classic animated shows being revived? I’m sure a whole new generation of young kids will enjoy them.
