Prime Video Picks Up Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman’s Civil War Drama THE GREY HOUSE

Prime Video has officially secured the U.S. rights to The Gray House, a Civil War drama executive produced by Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman.

The limited series will premiere on the streamer in early 2026 and dives into the gripping true story of a network of women who became unlikely spies and changed the course of history.

Directed by Roland Joffé, the eight-part series follows a Virginia socialite, her mother, a formerly enslaved ally, and a notorious courtesan as they infiltrate the heart of the Confederacy.

These women risk everything to transform the underground railroad into a covert intelligence network that would alter the war’s outcome.

The cast is led by Mary-Louise Parker (The West Wing), Daisy Head (Harlots), Amethyst Davis (Kindred), and Ben Vereen (Roots). They’re joined by an ensemble that includes Paul Anderson, Ian Duff, Hannah James, Robert Knepper, Christopher McDonald, Colin Morgan, Rob Morrow, Colin O’Donoghue, Sam Trammell, and Keith David.

The series is produced under Paramount’s Republic Pictures with Costner’s Territory Pictures, Freeman’s Revelations Entertainment, and Leslie Greif’s Big Dreams Entertainment. Greif, best known for Hatfields & McCoys, co-wrote The Gray House with Darrell Fetty and John Sayles.

Along with today’s announcement, Prime Video also shared the first official poster for The Gray House, giving audiences an early look at this epic historical drama.
