Producer Jason Blum Says He Could Get Robert Englund to Play Freddy Krueger
Blumhouse horror film producer Jason Blum has been wanting to revive the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. He’s successfully done it with Halloween, and he’s doing it with The Exorcist, why not try to bring back Freddy Krueger as well!?
It seems like it would be pointless to make another A Nightmare of Elm Street film without Robert Englund in the role of Freddy. No one has what it takes to play the character as he can. Blum knows this, and if he ever does end up making a new Elm Street movie, he’s confident that he can get Englund back in the role!
During a recent interview with Screen Rant, Blum said, “I could make him come back. I could get anyone back. I mean, Ellen Burstyn was 87, I got her back in [the upcoming sequel to] The Exorcist. 75… he’s young.”
Blum is insanely confident in his abilities with a comment like, “I could get anyone back.” He seriously probably can, though! Blum is a pretty powerful producer in Hollywood.
As of right now, the Craven Estate holds the rights to the franchise, and the last we heard they were taking pitches from talent for a potential next installment in the series. I’m not sure what the status is on that, but I’m sure we’ll eventually find out.
At this point, Blum should use his producing power and talent to secure the rights to A Nightmare on Elm Street.
