Producer Jerry Bruckheimer Says the Future of Johnny Depp's PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN Is "Yet to be Decided"

It has been five years since we’ve seen a Pirates of the Caribbean movie in theatres with the 2017 film, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. This was one of the biggest film franchises in Disney history, and some fans have wondered if we will get another film, and more importantly, will star Johnny Depp return to play the role of Captain Jack Sparrow?

Depp has alluded in the past to not returning to the role, but some still wonder if it’s a possibility if the right story came along. In a recent interview with Jerry Bruckheimer, who has produced all five films so far, he was asked about the possible future of the franchise, and whether Depp could be expected to return. Bruckheimer responded:

"Not at this point. The future is yet to be decided."

Depp recently was asked about his desire to return to the films by his lawyer in his recent court case, and he responded, saying:

"A franchise can only last so long, and there's a way to end a franchise like that. I thought the characters should have a way out, to end the franchise on a very good note, and I planned on continuing until it was time to stop."

I, for one, don’t see the need for any more Pirates movies, and I don’t know anyone else who is clamoring for them. Depp has other projects I’m sure he can move on to do, and Disney has plenty of other cool things in the works.

All Pirates of the Caribbean movies are currently streaming on Disney Plus. Would you like to see another one made in the future?
