We’ve got a new update on Marvel’s upcoming Blade movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, production on the project has been pushed back to July of 2022. The movie was originally supposed to start shooting this September.

The reason for the delay is because Marvel doesn’t want to rush the project. They want to get this right, and they are going to spend more time working on perfecting the story and script, which is being written by Stacy Osei-Kuffour (Watchmen).

Mahershala Ali is set to star in the film, and he’s heavily involved with the creative process the hiring of creative talent. He was involved with bringing Osei-Kuffour on board, and the team at Marvel is now on the hunt for a director to bring the film to life.

Blade is a human-vampire hybrid thanks to his mother being bitten and killed by a blood-sucker during childbirth. The character was created by writer Marv Wolfman and artist Gene Colan, and he made his first appearance in the comic book The Tomb of Dracula #10 in July of 1973.

Like many of you, I’m really curious to see how Blade is handled by Marvel Studios. I wonder how dark they will go because we’re dealing with blood-sucking vampires here.
