Promo Spot For Jared Leto's MORBIUS Teases a New Trailer Coming Tomorrow
Sony Pictures has released a vignette for its upcoming Marvel film Morbius. The promo features Jared Leto discussing his character in the film and also offers up a bit of new footage. It also announces that there’s a new full trailer for the film that is going to drop tomorrow! So, that gives us something to look forward to seeing.
Leto takes on the role of Morbius, a.k.a. Dr. Michael Morbius, "a scientist who suffered from a rare blood disease and attempted to cure himself to disastrous results. Instead of being cured, he became afflicted with a condition that was a form of vampirism — the thirst for blood, along with fangs and super strength — and fought Spider-Man. Over time, however, he became a slightly heroic figure in his own right and even headlined his own comic book titles.”
Leto says in the video, "Morbius is a Marvel character who has been an important part of the universe. He's brilliant. He's strong. He's got some unique powers. But his powers seem to be out of his control." Leto adds that he "loves the opportunity to do something transformational," and notes how it was a very intense, physical role as Morbius goes from a frail, sick human being to a monstrous powerful being. He ends the teaser trailer by alluding a connection to Spider-Man, stating how "there's a web of opportunity."
Leto is joined by Jared Harris (Mad Men, The Crown, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, The Terror) in the film along with Adria Arjona (Pacific Rim Uprising) as Martine Bancroft, who was engaged to Morbius before he accidentally turned himself into a vampire. She ends up becoming a potential victim as Morbius learns to cope with his insatiable bloodlust. Matt Smith is also in the film and plays Loxias Crown.
The film was directed by Daniel Espinosa, and it will be released in theaters January 28th, 2022.
