Promo Spot For THE GOLDBERGS Farewell Episode To George Segal as Pops
As you may have heard, actor George Segal recently passed away at the age of 87 after complications from bypass surgery. The actor was wonderfully playing the character of Pops in ABC’s hits series The Goldbergs, and the show will bid its final farewell to Segal with the actor’s final appearance later this week.
ABC has released a promo spot for the episode, which is a tribute to the Segal. The episode is titled “Couple Off” and it follows couples Barry and Joanne, and Erica and Geoff as they compete to see who’s the better couple.
The Goldbergs cast and crew remembered the actor in a joint statement after learning of his death, and it reads:
“On behalf of everyone at The Goldbergs we are devastated at the loss of our dear friend, George. He was kind, sweet, beyond talented and funny. George was the true epitome of class and he touched all of our lives so deeply. It was an honor and a privilege to have him as a colleague and friend all of these years. It is no surprise to any of us that knew him so well that he is a true national treasure. He will be missed by all. POPS, we will miss your banjo playing and your infectious laugh. Rest in peace.”
“Couple Off” is set to air on Wednesday, April 7th, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Following the episode, ABC and Sony Pictures Television will air a 45-second tribute to Segal.
