PUSHING DAISIES Creator Bryan Fuller Says He and the Cast Are Ready to Return for Season 3, but There's a Catch

We all have a list of shows we’ve watched over the years that, despite them being smart and interesting and possibly ahead of their time, were get canceled early on. Pushing Daisies is at the top of my list, and its creator Bryan Fuller is as anxious as the show’s fans to bring it back.

Fuller is no stranger to making great series that get pulled off the air before they are completed. The writer and creator got his start making the Star Trek series Voyager and Discovery, which were both able to see long runs, but despite large fan bases, his other shows - Pushing Daisies, Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls, and Hannibal, and American Gods have all been cut short.

Dead Like Me was able to return after a lobbying fanbase petitioned, but the other shows haven’t been as lucky.

The creator is still asked about Pushing Daisies, even 16 years after its second season cancelation, and when recently asked about whether he’d welcome the show’s return, Fuller told ComicBook, “Absolutely.” He continued:

“We have a season three pitch, and the entire cast wants to come back, and we’re hoping we get to return to them. We just have to find somebody who wants to make it.”

The bad news, Fuller says, is that someone will need to front the money to bring Pushing Daisies back, and at this point, the talent and special effects cost for a revival would probably look high to whichever network or streamer picked it up.

Though this series has what new shows do not- the advantage of a built-in audience who remains very loyal and eager to see it back.

Season 1 of Pushing Daisies boasts a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, with Season 2 holding a perfect 100% score. The series was nominated for seventeen Primetime Emmy awards, winning seven.

So if any show has a shot at returning, it seems like this would be a great candidate. I, for one, would love to see it come back!

Pushing Daisies is a fantasy-crime-comedy series about Ned (Lee Pace), a pie-maker with the magical ability to bring the dead back to life with a touch. He revives his childhood sweetheart, Chuck (Anna Friel), but they cannot touch again without her dying permanently.

Together, they partner with a private investigator, Emerson Cod (Chi McBride), and the waitress Olive Snook (Kristin Chenoweth) to solve murders, with Ned briefly reviving the deceased to find out how they died.
