Quentin Tarantino Keeps Hinting That KILL BILL VOL. 3 is Going to Happen
Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight is in theaters now, and while doing press for the movie, the writer/director spoke with Variety about the perpetual topic of whether or not fans are ever going to see Kill Bill Vol. 3. It won't happen, it will happen — he's been very wishy-washy about the idea, but it now sounds like he's actually developing a story idea in his head, and he's already gone so far as to speak with star Uma Thurman about it:
"I've been very non-committal about it, and I'm not committing to it, but I wouldn't be surprised if The Bride made one more appearance before the whole thing is said and done. I've been talking to Uma about it just a little bit. Some of the stuff that I've written and never made it into the movie that maybe I could use and thinking, 'OK, now, thirteen years later, what would be going on with Sofie Fatale, what would be going on with Elle Driver?'
The thing that does attract me to the idea — and I wasn't too attracted to it before because I felt like I said what I had to say, and I kind of liked the idea of Beatrix Kiddo living out the rest of her life in peace, to some degree — I think Kill Bill is probably my most visionary movie. And that's not me saying how good it is, it's just a very vision oriented movie and I create this world that doesn't exist. Where on planes, there's holders for your samurai sword (laughs). Since Kill Bill, my work has veered more toward the literary, and much more emphasis on the literary and less on the visual to one degree or another, and so I think maybe a good helping of viscera would be a nice thing to happen, at least at some point in my future."
That definitely sounds like he's at least working on an outline or a treatment if he hasn't already started putting a screenplay together. Personally, I think if Tarantino is only going to make ten feature films, I'd rather see the remaining two movies be something new and fresh instead of one of them being a continuation of something he's already done, but that's just me.
