Quentin Tarantino Reportedly Cast John Travolta in His Final Film THE MOVIE CRITIC
As Quentin Tarantino is preparing to shoot his final film, The Movie Critic, the first bit of casting news has leaked. The filmmaker has reportedly cast John Travolta in the film, who co-starred in Pulp Fiction.
The news comes from entertainment insider Jeff Sneider, who shared on X: "I hear Tarantino is saving a role in his final film The Movie Critic for two of his former leading men. Here's one of them…" The post came along with a clip of the iconic scene from Pulp Fiction of Travolta’s Vincent Vega looking around bemused.
There’s no word on who Travolta will play in the movie, but it’s cool to see that he and Tarantino might be working together again on The Movie Critic.
The Movie Critic takes place in California in 1977 “and is based on a guy who really lived, but was never really famous, and he used to write movie reviews for a porno rag.” Tarantino explained: “He wrote about mainstream movies and he was the second-string critic. I think he was a very good critic. He was as cynical as hell. His reviews were a cross between early Howard Stern and what Travis Bickle [Robert DeNiro’s character in Taxi Driver] might be if he were a film critic.”
He added: “Think about Travis’s diary entries. But the porno rag critic was very, very funny. He was very rude, you know. He cursed. He used racial slurs. But his shit was really funny. He was as rude as hell. He wrote like he was 55 but he was only in his early to mid-30s. He died in his late thirties. It wasn’t clear for a while but now I’ve done some more research and I think it was it was complications due to alcoholism.”
I’m sure this is going to make for a great and interesting film, but do you think it will really be Tarantino’s last?
