Quentin Tarantino Says His 10th Film Will Be a Horror Movie If He Comes Up with a "Terrific" Story
Quentin Tarantino has said several times that his tenth film will be his last. Personally, I don’t believe it. He loves making movies too much and there are a lot of stories that I’m sure that he wants to tell.
The Star Trek movie he’s developing for Paramount Pictures could end up being his tenth film, but he’s also not ruling out any other projects. In a recent interview, the filmmaker was asked if he would consider making his tenth film a horror movie, due to the horror elements that he incorporated in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Tarantino responded with this:
"If I come up with a terrific horror film story, I will do that as my tenth movie. I love horror movies. I would love to do a horror film. And I do actually think that the Spahn Ranch sequence is the closest to a horror sequence, because I do think it's vaguely terrifying. And I didn't even quite realize how good we did it, frankly, to tell you the truth, until my editor told me."
The sequence he’s talking about features Brad Pitt's character Cliff Booth at a ranch with the crazy Manson family, and it leads him to wonder what dark and sinister motivations they have. The tension that builds in the sequence is awesome! He went on to say:
"[My editor told me,] 'The Spahn Ranch sequence is a horror film,' Oh, really? It's good? It's working?' He goes, 'No, no, no, Quentin, you don't understand. It's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre with a budget. It's like Brad Pitt is walking into The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. It's fucking terrifying.' I go, 'Wow, I'm glad! Really?!' Because I hadn't seen anything. And when I look at it, I think, 'Yeah, this is sorta like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre,' which is about as good a compliment as you can make."
I would absolutely love to see Tarantino make a horror film. But, I also want to see him make a that R-rated Star Trek film. I’d also be up for watching any other movie that he decides to make! Good grief… I really hope that he doesn’t retire from filmmaking. He just makes such great and entertaining films that I enjoy watching!
What would you like to see Tarantino make for his tenth movie? Do you think it will really be his last?
Holy shit, Tarantino talking about his final film possibly NOT being Star Trek or a third Kill Bill...but a HORROR movie @metaplexmovies @Joesevelt @jaymoecooks @BlackNerdMagic I don’t think the world would be ready! pic.twitter.com/TFgMlk8dHZ
