Quentin Tarantino Set To Write and Direct THE HATEFUL EIGHT Stage Production

Last month, we learned that Quentin Tarantino wanted to direct a stage production of The Hateful Eight, and now he’s actually getting ready to move forward with it. This story would work perfectly for a stage production, and I’d love to see how Tarantino handles it. He gave an update on the project during an interview with The Wrap, saying:

“I’ve thought it out completely. I’m just waiting for this [awards] season to be over so I can write it. I gotta put myself there and write it for this.”

He went on to say that that producer Harvey Weinstein tried to convince him to produce the script as a play from the start, but Tarantino wanted to make his movie!

“Harvey actually — he tried to talk me into doing it as a play first. He said, ‘Let’s just say this out loud before we commit to doing the movie.’ And I was like, ‘Look, I could. But I like the mystery aspect and the mystery aspect will really only work in the movie. And I have the 70mm and I have the snow. So let me do that.'”

I’m really happy that he ended up shooting the film in 70mm because that was quite an awesome experience for me as I had never seen a movie in 70mm before. I’ve already seen the movie three times, and when Tarantino turns it into a play, I’ll go to wherever he sets it up to watch it!
