R-Rated HELLBOY Movie Announced with Director Neil Marshall and Actor David Harbour

Hellboy creator Mike Mignola has announced that Hellboy is getting an R-Rated movie reboot! This comes as a huge surprise, especially after Guillermo del Toro said that Hellboy 3 wasn't going to happen. I thought that was the end of it. I didn't think we would see another Hellboy movie. Well, a new Hellboy movie is coming, it just won't be with Del Toro or Ron Perlman.

Instead, the new movie will be directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game Of Thrones) and Stranger Things co-star David Harbour will be taking on the role of Hellboy! I'm bummed out that the original team isn't coming back to make Hellboy 3, but Marshall is a solid director and Harbour will be great as Hellboy. It's not hard to imagine him in the role. Here's what Mignola said on Facebook:

Okay, here's some news--
There IS going to be another HELLBOY MOVIE.
It's going to be an R rated reboot directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game Of Thrones) and staring David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Hellboy.
More news to come soon--

THR offers some additional details on the film. They reveal that the working title of the film is Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen and the script for it was written by Andrew Cosby (Eureka), Christopher Golden and Mignola. Millennium Films is the studio in negotiations with producers Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin to reboot the franchise.

A part of me is very excited about this, the other part is disappointed that they are rebooting it instead of making Hellboy 3, which is what all the fans were hoping to see. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this turns out. In the meantime, let us know what you think!
