Ralph Fiennes Will Play Miss Trunchbull in Netflix's Musical Adaptation of MATILDA

Ralph Fiennes is set to take on the role Miss Trunchbull in Netflix and Working Title’s upcoming film adaptation of Roald Dahl's Matilda.

The film will be an adaptation of the popular stage musical, which follows the story of a young prodigy mistreated by her ignorant parents. At a school run by an abusive headmistress, she finds a kindred spirit in her teacher, Miss Honey.

The Miss Trunchbull character has been traditionally played by a man in the stage musical, so that’s not a surprise. The surprise is the character is being played by Fiennes, and that’s going to be a lot of fun to see!

It’s also been reported that Killing Eve‘s Jodie Comer is in talks to play Miss Honey, the kind-hearted teacher of Matilda. She would be great if she was actually cast!

The film adaptation of Matilda the Musical will be directed by Matthew Warchus, who was also the director of the stage musical. Dennis Kelly, who won a Tony for best book for adapting the novel, will write the screenplay.

I really enjoyed the musical, so I’m very much looking forward to seeing how this movie turns out.
