Ranking POWER RANGERS Themes Part 2 - Saban Era
The first four theme songs for Power Rangers are all pretty awesome. How did the theme songs fare after the Zordon Era? Today we’re taking a look at the next 4 theme songs that make up the rest of the Saban Era. I am including Wild Force in this list even though I know that some fans clump it in with the Disney Era. It feels much more like a Saban series than a Disney one in my opinion.
Once again, these are all my opinion. If you have a different opinion, I’d love to hear about it in the comments. Also, remember that I am ranking these based on the official versions that were used in the opening credits. Extended versions have no sway here.
Power Rangers Lost Galaxy
This theme is okay. It’s the first minute-long intro and I actually wonder if that’s to its detriment. I don’t care for the “ah” section and could use with fewer “Turn on the power, Power Rangers!” in the song. I think fewer of them would’ve been a bit more impactful. I do like the instrument tracks in the chorus-like section. The drums going quiet and then coming in as accents sounds really cool.
Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue
I don’t know what it is, but the verse in this song is so good at building up the hype. The chorus is decent as well. Of course, the lyrics in this opening are really good at setting the scene in a mere four lines. Now, I once again think that having the song be a minute long was once again a bad idea. The song works really well for a 30-35-second intro and then wears out its welcome.
Power Rangers Time Force
Another fan-favorite season, another theme song that I am not a fan of. My big problem with the Time Force theme song is that I merely don’t like the vocals on it. I also don’t feel like there’s enough of a difference in the energy of the instruments between the verse and the chorus. It feels like the same track with just barely different vocal energy and it falls flat for me.
Power Rangers Wild Force
Yet another surprise hit. This song starts big with the chorus, but then comes back to the verse. I really like how the energy is different between the song sections. I also like how the energy is different, but it’s all hype and gets you up. It’s the same kind of feeling I got from the theme from Turbo. The words are also one of the better sets in my opinion. It doesn’t set the scene like Lightspeed Rescue, but it helps build up the Rangers like in the Zeo theme.
All of these openings hurt from being a minute long. However, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t some gems. If I had to pick one of these for a fight theme, it would be Wild Force. Here’s the new rankings of Power Rangers theme songs.
Power Rangers Turbo
Power Rangers Wild Force
Power Rangers Zeo
Mighty Morphin Power/Alien Rangers
Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue
Power Rangers In Space
