Read 4 Pages of Max Landis' Unproduced FANTASTIC FOUR Script
Those of you who watched Josh Trank's Fantastic Four movie this weekend know how bad it turned out. This project could have gone in so many different directions. Unfortunately, this was the direction it went.
Over the weekend, screenwriter Max Landis, who worked with Trank on Chronicle, released four pages of a Fantastic Four script he wrote four years ago. This would have had a very different feel, but I still don't think it's the direction the film should have gone.
With the pages numbered 1 through 4, I imagine that this would have been the opening scene of the movie. It features Reed Richards, Johnny Storm, Ben Grimm, and Sue Storm in the process of escaping a raid by the police, FBI, and SWAT teams. They end up blasting off into space in a rocket ship built out of a heavily modified 1968 Corvair Ultra Van.
Even though it's a cool concept and plays out better than what is in the current film, the four pages read more like a fun Fantastic Four cartoon than like a movie. This is the note from Landis that came along with the pages:
"In celebration of the release of Fantastic 4, here's the first 4 pages of a Fantastic 4 script I wrote 4 years ago..."
Apparently, this script is something that he wrote just for a pitch he wanted to throw to the studio because he's a big fan of the Fantastic Four. Read it for yourself and let us know what you think!
