READY OR NOT Sequel Moving Forward with Samara Weaving and a New Director
A sequel to the awesome 2019 survival horror thriller Ready or Not is moving forward! Samara Weaving is set to reprise her role in the film, and Adam Robitel will direct. Robitel is best known for his films such as Escape Room movies and Insidious: The Last Key.
The news comes from The InSneider, and he also says that Fox Searchlight has been wanting to make a sequel ever since the first film became such a huge hit, making nearly ten times its $6 million budget. The original directors, Radio Silence - Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett - have been keeping really busy since Ready or Not became a success, which closed down the process of getting a sequel off the ground.
Weaving plays Grace Le Domas in the franchise, and in the first movie, which is a fun and thrilling horror-comedy that blends dark humor with suspenseful horror elements. The story centers on Grace, a young bride who marries into the wealthy but eccentric Le Domas family.
On her wedding night, she discovers that there's a macabre tradition within the family: every new member must participate in a random game as an initiation ritual. Unluckily for Grace, she draws "Hide and Seek," which she soon learns is a deadly version where she must hide while the family hunts her with the intent to kill her before dawn as part of a mysterious pact they believe they must fulfill to maintain their wealth and status.
What follows is a night of intense survival, as Grace savagely fights back, uncovering the family's dark secrets and transforming from a scared bride into a fierce survivor.
There are no details on the sequel, but I hope they come up with another great story!
