READY PLAYER ONE Will Have a VR Tie-In

Perhaps not surprisingly, Warner Bros is developing a VR tie-in for Ready Player One. The news, while welcome, is not all that surprising considering the film's subject matter. Slashfilm says the film studio is teaming up with the HTC Vive to create some content for the upcoming Steven Spielberg film. Right now there are no hard details on what the VR experience will include, but we do know that it will involve OASIS, which is the virtual reality simulator the film focuses on.

With VR having a slow start with consumers on the gaming front, I welcome the idea that films could provide another outlet for the platform to thrive. While I'm not sure how much I'm willing to pay for these 5-15 minute experiences, I'm more than ready for the film industry to convince me to drop that money to see something cool! How do you feel about this new marriage of films and VR?
