Real-Life MARIO KART Racing Down an Austrian Mountain Looks Insane
Who needs Rainbow Road when you’ve got an Austrian mountain and three wheels? Sam Pilgrim joined the Swatch Nines crew in Sölden for a wonderfully unhinged downhill run that looks like Mario Kart brought to life.
Instead of engines, these mountain karts rely entirely on gravity to send riders flying down the course, with brakes providing the only real argument against going way too fast.
The Nintendo connection gets even better when a few racers tackle the mountain dressed as Mario Kart characters, turning an already wild ride into something that looks like a race Nintendo would probably never insure.
There aren’t any power-ups, banana peels, or blue shells waiting around the corners, but when you’re barreling downhill in a tiny three-wheeler, you’ve already got plenty to worry about.
