Rebecca Ferguson To Join Director Denis Villeneuve's DUNE

Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible - Fallout) is in negotiations to join director Denis Villeneuve's feature film adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune.

If everything works out and she officially joins, she will star alongside the previously cast Timothee Chalamet (Lady Bird, Call Me By Your Name), who will take on the lead role of Paul Atreides. Ferguson will take on the role of Atreides’ mother, Lady Jessica. Here's the story description:

Set in the distant future, Dune follows Paul Atreides, whose family assumes control of the desert planet Arrakis. As the only producer of a highly valuable resource, jurisdiction over Arrakis is contested among competing noble families. After Paul and his family are betrayed, the story explores themes of politics, religion, and man’s relationship to nature, as Paul leads a rebellion to restore his family’s reign.

Maybe Ferguson will play one of the Atreides family members. I like her and this is sure to be another great film project for her to be a part of. The actress is also set to star in Joe Cornish’s The Kid Who Would Be King, The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep, and the new Men in Black film.

Dune is one of those stories that I've always wanted to see a proper film adaptation of, and I think that Villeneuve is going to give fans of the novel something incredible. Remember, this is the same guy who brought us Blade Runner 2049 and Arrival. He's directing from a script written by Ric Roth (Forrest Gump, The Insider, Munich, Ali) and Legendary Pictures is producing the film.

I do like the original David Lynch-directed film for what it was, but it wasn't the best adaptation of the novel.

What do you think about Ferguson joining the film?
