Red-Band Trailer For Dylan O’Brien and Michael Keaton's Action Thriller AMERICAN ASSASSIN

This American Assassin action thriller actually looks like it could be a great film that has potential to be a solid new franchise. We've got two new trailers for you to watch today for the movie, one of which is a red-band trailer. I really like what I'm seeing in these trailers and it doesn't hurt that the movie features a talented cast of actors.

AMERICAN ASSASSIN follows the rise of Mitch Rapp (Dylan O’Brien), a CIA black ops recruit under the instruction of Cold War veteran Stan Hurley (Michael Keaton). The pair is then enlisted by CIA Deputy Director Irene Kennedy (Sanaa Lathan) to investigate a wave of apparently random attacks on both military and civilian targets. Together the three discover a pattern in the violence leading them to a joint mission with a lethal Turkish agent (Shiva Negar) to stop a mysterious operative (Taylor Kitsch) intent on starting a World War in the Middle East.

The movie is based on a series of books that is set in the world of counter-terrorism and focuses on an operative named Mitch Rapp. There are 15 books in the series written by Vince Flynn, so there's plenty of material for a film franchise if this first movie is a success.

The movie was directed by Michael Cuesta (Kill The Messenger, Homeland, L.I.E.) from a screenplay by Stephen Schiff, Michael Finch, Edward Zwick, and Marshall Herskovitz.

American Assassin opens in theaters on September 15, 2017.
