George A. Romero’s zombie classic Night of the Living Dead has been given an animated makeover with the upcoming film Night of the Animated Dead. The first trailer for this film has been released, and I’ve gotta say… I’m not impressed. It’s a very cheap-looking film, which is a shame. Night of the Living Dead is the most influential zombie film ever made, and it deserves better. I honestly don’t know what the point of making this movie was.

In Night of the Animated Dead, “siblings Barbara and Johnny visit their father's grave in a remote cemetery in Pennsylvania when they are suddenly set upon by zombies. Barbara flees and takes refuge in an abandoned farmhouse along with stranded motorist Ben and four local survivors found hiding in the cellar. Together, the group must fight to stay alive against the oncoming horde of zombies while also confronting their own fears and prejudices.”

The movie was directed by Jason Axinn, and the voice cast includes Josh Duhamel, Dulé Hill, Katharine Isabelle, Stefan Marks, James Roday Rodriguez, Katee Sackhoff, Jimmi Simpson, Nancy Travis, and Will Sasso.

The movie will be September 21, 2021 on Digital and October 5, 2021 on Blu-Ray. I’d rather just watch the original film again over this ridiculousness.
