Red Hulk Was Considered For AVENGERS: ENDGAME
I know that no movie is perfect, they all have little mistakes. The good part about movies are the steps that were taken to save the flow of the all around story. Avengers: Endgame is no exception to this rule. Yes, it had its flaws, but it was saved by the self editing of its writers.
In an issue of Backstory Magazine that was exclusively distributed at Comic-Con, Endgame writer Stephen McFeely talks about the possibility of us seeing the Red Hulk in the movie. This is what he had to say:
Red Hulk is a completely different thing in the comics. It wound up being, well, really we’re just saying he changes color. That’s not a character change. If there’s a future for William Hurt as a superhero [the actor who plays General Thunderbolt Ross in the MCU], he can turn into Red Hulk.
I am so glad that they didn’t waste such a good story line like the Red Hulk just as a cursory cameo. The story of General Ross turning into the Red Hulk to be used as a weapon against the Hulk is wonderful and I would love to see it played out in the MCU. The last we saw of Thunderbolt, he was attending Tony Stark’s funeral. That doesn’t mean that he has turned the other cheek as far as the Avengers disregarding the Sokovia Accords.
The problem with being a comic nerd is that I want to see all of my favorite storylines played out on the big screen. No matter how much they say there will not be another solo Hulk movie, I am holding out hope.
Do you think that a Red Hulk story would be worth seeing in the MCU? Let us know what you think!
