Red Tornado Confirmed for SUPERGIRL, Iddo Goldberg Cast in Role

Last month it was reported that the DC Comics character Red Tornado would make an appearence in CBS' Supergirl. That news has been confirmed with the casting of Iddo Goldberg (Defiance, Salem) in the role.

This will be Red Tornado's live-action debut, and as of right now it will only be a guest star type deal in one of the episodes.

Red Tornado was created by Gardner Fox and Dick Dillin, and he made his first real appearance in 1968’s Justice League of America #64. The origins of the character can be traced back to a 1960 issue of Mystery in Space. The offiical description of the Red Tornado for the Supergirl series reads as follows:

"Designed for the army by scientist T.O. Morrow, Red Tornado is the world's most nefarious android who is capable of devastating National City. Once free from the U.S. government's grip, Red Tornado sets out on a path of destruction that only Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) will be able to stop."

Red Tornado is an intruiging villain, and it's cool that they are bringing this villain to life. Supergirl also stars Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow “Winn” Schott, Jenna Dewan Tatum as Lucy Lane (sister of Lois), David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord, and, in mystery roles, Dean Cain and Helen Slater.

Supergirl is set to premiere Monday, October 26th.
