Regal Theatres Reopening With Movie Classics Like THE LORD OF THE RINGS, THE DARK KNIGHT Trilogy, JAWS, STAR WARS, and More

Regal Theatres is just weeks away from reopening after the pandemic. To fill the slots until films start rolling out again, the chain has decided to bring back some classic films that lots of fans would love to watch on the big screen for the first time in a long time, or maybe even the first time ever.

Variety reports that beginning July 10th, Regal will have screenings of Black Panther, Rocky, Unforgiven, The Empire Strikes Back, Inside Out, and Jurassic Park. Vin Diesel’s Bloodshot, which originally hit theaters in March, will also be screened, as well as Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises.

The Nolan series continues on July 17th, with a rereleases of Inception and Interstellar. Other films on the lineup include Bohemian Rhapsody, Iron Man, Jaws, and the 2017 live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast, as well as the films in the The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Sonic the Hedgehog, which was first released in theaters in February.

The theaters will kick off at 50% capacity and have put in protocols for safety, like extra cleaning between showings, masks for employees and guests, and no self-service stations open at this time.

I think this is a really fun idea. My local drive-in has been doing fun throwbacks like these and has gotten a great response. People want to get out of the house, and a dose of nostalgia is always a comfort during troubling times.

Which of these films would you like to see on the big screen?
