Release Dates Pushed Back For MULAN and BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC

Due to the reported spikes of COVID-19 cases, Disney has pushed the theatrical release date for Mulan back again and MGM has also pushed back the release Bill & Ted Face The Music as well.

The release of Mulan has been pushed from July 25th to August 21st, which is the weekend after Christopher Nolan’s Tenet is released. Alan Horn, co-chairman and chief creative officer, and Alan Bergman, co-chairman, The Walt Disney Studios said in a statement:

“While the pandemic has changed our release plans for Mulan and we will continue to be flexible as conditions require, it has not changed our belief in the power of this film and its message of hope and perseverance. Director Niki Caro and our cast and crew have created a beautiful, epic, and moving film that is everything the cinematic experience should be, and that’s where we believe it belongs – on the world stage and the big screen for audiences around the globe to enjoy together.”

As for Bill & Ted Face The Music, MGM will now release two weeks later on August 28th. The reason for the push is so that it won’t be competing with Tenet.

Following 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and 1991’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, the stakes are higher than ever for William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. (Alex Winter) and Theodore “Ted” Logan (Keanu Reeves).  Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe.  Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.

Paramount Pictures also moved Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse with Michael B. Jordan from October 2nd to February 26th. This film tells the origin story of John Kelly, a Navy SEAL who avenges his wife’s murder only to find himself inside a larger conspiracy.

Movie theaters will be opening up in July and while we wait for the new releases to start rolling in, they will be screening a lot of older classic films.

I’m excited for movie theaters to start opening up again!
