Renee Zellweger to Star in NBC True Crime Limited Series THE THING ABOUT PAM From Blumhouse
Two-time Oscar-winning actress Renee Zellweger (Jerry Maguire, Judy) is making her television debut in the upcoming NBC true crime limited series, The Thing About Pam. The series has been given a six-episode straight-to-series order, and is “based on a true-crime phenomenon, the real-life, stranger-than-fiction story behind the 2011 murder of Betsy Faria that was featured on Dateline NBC.” The Thing About Pam is a collaboration between Blumhouse Television, NBC News Studios, and Zellweger’s Big Picture Co.
Susan Rovner, Chairman, Entertainment Content at NBC said of the project:
“When you think about what qualifies something as a ‘must watch,’ I’m not sure you could do any better than the undeniable trifecta of Renée Zellweger, Blumhouse and Dateline. The twists and turns of this saga are truly stranger than fiction, and in the hands of this incredibly talented artistic team, this series will bring a completely new perspective to a story that has already captivated millions.”
Jessika Borsiczky (House of Lies) will serve as showrunner and writer on the project. “The Thing About Pam is based on the murder of Betsy Faria which resulted in her husband Russ’s conviction. He always insisted that he did not kill her, and his conviction was later overturned as the brutal crime set off a chain of events that would expose a diabolical scheme deeply involving Pam Hupp, a role that will be played by Zellweger.”
This sounds like a crazy true crime story that is right up my alley. I am excited to see Zellweger in the series. Does it sound like a show you might want to watch?
