Renegade Game Studios Reveals Box Art for POWER RANGERS: HEROES OF THE GRID RANGERS UNITED Expansion and Launches Painting Contest

Power Rangers: Heroes of the Grid is a really fun board game from Renegade Game Studios. One of the aspects of the game I love the most is how new characters are constantly being added to expand on the roster and appeal to everyone no matter who their favorite Rangers are. Typically, we get one full team or a few select Rangers at releases with big box expansions also having new enemies. They’re substantial, but not crazy. It looks like Renegade has decided to just go nuts with the next one though.

Renegade will be launching the Kickstarter for the Rangers United expansion on June 22. We got teased with box art for the expansion and it’s huge. On the good guys side, there are the three core Rangers from Beast Morphers and the Omega Rangers from the comics. Then, on the bad guys side we’ve got Tronics, Roxie, and Blaze from Beast Morphers; Omega Blue; and Darkonda from In Space. On top of all that, we then see that these are reflected in the helmet for the purple Solar Ranger. I hope that Omega Blue comes with cards to be evil and a Ranger. I also saw some people theorize that Omega Blue, Blaze, and Roxie were going to use the new Nemesis mechanic from Rise of the Psycho Rangers. I think that would be awesome. I also find it interesting that we’re only getting one Solar Ranger.

Of course, Jonathan Ying, the game’s designer, added fire to the fuel of speculation with a post on Facebook that says there’s 1 character included that is not on the box and then there was 1 character that ended up not making the cut. I could see the hidden character being the good Omega Blue or another Solar Ranger. My guess for the cut character is going to be Xi from the comics. It’s a wild guess.

In addition to the big expansion news, there’s more. Renegade has launched a painting contest. The Power Rangers: Heroes of the Grid Master Stroke Painting Contest is open through June 30. To participate, simply share up to 4 photos of your best painted figure from the game on the official Facebook group with #powerrangersmasterstroke. 3 lucky winners will get $50 in Kickstarter or Renegade webstore gredit with 1 more winner getting all of the content from the upcoming Kickstarter with prizes being delivered when the Kickstarter is fulfilled (currently estimated to be in August. To help all painters, Renegade even shared a YouTube playlist of painting tips and tricks anyone can use.
