#RenewYoungJustice: An Open Letter To Cartoon Network and DC

Dear Cartoon Network/DC Entertainment/Warner Bros.,

By now you've been alerted 22,000 times over that people on Twitter want Young Justice renewed. Sure, in television numbers that may not seem groundbreaking, but considering the movement gained that much steam in under 48 hours, you gotta give it some credit! Still, your social media remains silent. No word from ANY of you, save creator Greg Weisman who pointed us in your direction to begin with. I can understand maybe a consolation tweet like "Sorry guys, but no plans in the works right now," but literally nothing? That's about as big a slap in the face as the series cancellation was.

It's baffling how a show can go from one of the most critically celebrated hero series of all time to abruptly missing from television. As much as people love to put it all on Cartoon Network, you guys at DC and Warner share just as much of the blame. Why, with all the hype this show had reception-wise, did you let it die the way it did? Too expensive production costs? Not enough viewership? Give us something to put on ourselves!

Instead, we get a vague statement saying more or less that the show was cancelled because "girls shouldn't watch it." Yet you allow for the team to appear in a Teen Titans Go! episode to boost that product? Honestly, the more I think about the episode, it almost feels like a middle finger response to those who want the show back.

Just because Young Justice isn't as marketable to kids as other series doesn't mean it doesn't have a market. You have an older audience clamoring for a return, so put it in an older time slot. OR!!!!!!! HELLO MEGAN — why not just put it on Netflix or CW Seed? I'd settle just to see the second season appear on either!

There's something you aren't telling us. There's no way an Emmy award winning animated series with characters so well liked they were included into the comic continuity is just "no good." Just give us the reason why we won't see a season 3. GIVE US A REAL REASON.

Young Justice was a great show. It easily stands up there with the Bruce Timm animations and in some ways outshines them. It showed characters coming of age and the inner workings of the league in a way no show had before it. A perfect example is this scene right here:

Moments like these aren't rare, they were the norm for Young Justice, and perhaps its greatest strength. We need more shows that travel more than skin deep into our favorite heroes. We NEED SHOWS LIKE YOUNG JUSTICE. Or just Young Justice! Sounds much easier and cheaper to accomplish!

While it might not have been your biggest money maker, Young Justice MEANT something to people. It was the reason above that made me so sad that it left...for others...

There's plenty more in addition to that and we all want the same thing. At the very least have the respect to give us an answer.
