RESIDENT EVIL TV Series Lands at Netflix and The First Details Have Been Revealed

Resident Evil is officially getting a live-action TV series. The show has landed at Netflix, and they have given it an eight episode order.

The series is being written by Supernatural executive producer/co-showrunner Andrew Dabb and produced by Constantin Film, which is the same studio that was behind the Resident Evil movies.

As for the story, it’s said that the series will feature a brand new story across two timelines. In the first timeline, “fourteen-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are moved to New Raccoon City. A manufactured, corporate town, forced on them right as adolescence is in full swing. But the more time they spend there, the more they come to realize that the town is more than it seems and their father may be concealing dark secrets. Secrets that could destroy the world.”

Then there’s the second timeline, which is set well over a decade into the future. “There are less than fifteen million people left on Earth. And more than six billion monsters — people and animals infected with the T-virus. Jade, now thirty, struggles to survive in this New World, while the secrets from her past – about her sister, her father and herself – continue to haunt her.”

The series is also expected to incorporate all of Resident Evil’s signature elements, including the horror-filled action sequences and Easter eggs. When talking about the series, Dabb said:

“Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time. I’m incredibly excited to tell a new chapter in this amazing story and bring the first ever Resident Evil series to Netflix members around the world.”

Dabb also hinted that characters from the franchise will appear on the show, along with some crazy new monsters:

“For every type of Resident Evil fan, including those joining us for the first time, the series will be complete with a lot of old friends, and some things (bloodthirsty, insane things) people have never seen before.”

Bronwen Hughes (The Walking Dead, The Journey Is The Destination) will direct and executive produce the first two episodes.

I’m a big fan of the Resident Evil game franchise. I even enjoyed the first couple of films that were made, but the films just got worse and worse as they kept going. I hope that this series turns out well, though! Are you looking forward to seeing how it turns out?
