Restored Original Versions of JACKASS Seasons 1–3 Are Back on Paramount+ and Johnny Knoxville Is Hyped About It
Fans of Jackass can finally experience the chaos the way it was originally meant to be seen. Paramount+ has officially brought back Seasons 1 through 3 of the iconic MTV series in fully restored versions, undoing years of edits and changes that left the original creators frustrated.
According to Paramount, the episodes now streaming are the definitive cuts of the series, rebuilt to match the way they originally aired when Jackass exploded onto TV screens 25 years ago. I can’t believe it’s been that long! I remember watching this stupid show for the first time and laughing my ass off.
The restoration effort came directly from the show’s creators, including Johnny Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine, and Spike Jonze, who pushed to preserve the series in its intended form.
Knoxville explained just how far the old streaming versions had drifted from the originals in a statement announcing the relaunch:
“In the time since the release of Jackass 26 years ago, the television episodes had been re-edited, re-sequenced, and re-scored to the point they were unrecognizable.
“I found this out the hard way last year when attempting to watch them. Eeek! But kudos to Paramount for giving us the $$ to restore the shows to how they initially aired in the first place.”
“We can’t wait until you see all the terrible things we did to each other way back then and in the manner we intended!”
The original seasons were temporarily pulled from Paramount+ at the end of 2025 so the production team could go back through the material and restore key creative elements that had been altered over the years.
That includes edits to episode structure, music, sequencing, and other changes that apparently left the original energy of the show feeling off.
For fans who grew up watching Knoxville, Steve-O, Bam Margera, Chris Pontius, Ryan Dunn, Preston Lacy, and the rest of the crew launching shopping carts into disaster and destroying themselves for laughs, this is probably the closest thing possible to opening a time capsule from the early 2000s.
The timing also lines up with the upcoming theatrical release of Jackass: Best and Last, which hits theaters on June 26. So Paramount clearly knows there’s still a huge audience ready to revisit the franchise that helped redefine chaotic stunt comedy for an entire generation.
The restored versions of Jackass Seasons 1 through 3 are available now on Paramount+ in the U.S., with additional international regions expected to roll out soon.
