Retro Social Gaming Platform Piepacker Enters Open Beta
Piepacker is a new social gaming platform that allows you to play fully-licensed retro games online for free. The platform raised $220,000 on Kickstarter and secured a $3 million seed funding round in order to make this a reality and bring fans over 60 games that they can play with their friends online through a browser. Fans will find titles like Glover, Earthworm Jim, and Worms World Party, but there are also some indie games exclusive to the platform like Xeno Crisis by Bitmap Bureau and Spacegulls by Morphcat Games. There’s even built-in video chat that has 3D filters to enjoy with your friends.
The platform is now in open beta, and you can check it out for yourself. The future of Piepacker includes competitions, leaderboards, Twitch integration, support for legally acquired ROMS in private rooms, and even the PieReader which allows the use of physical game cartridges. Oh, and Piepacker is starting to develop its own games like Arsène Lupin: Gentleman Bomber. Talking about the new platform, co-founder and CEO Benjamin Devienne said:
