This week’s retro trailer is for the classic 1984 sci-fi adventure film The Ice Pirates. I loved watching this movie when I was a kid! It was so much fun and it’s been forever since I revisited it, but watching this trailer makes me want to do just that!
The Ice Pirates takes us on a wild and wacky journey through space and the story is set in the distant future, where water is the most valuable resource in the universe. It follows a ragtag group of misfit pirates who set sail on a quest for frozen treasure. Led by the charming and quick-witted Jason, played by the dashing Robert Urich, this motley crew faces space battles, quirky aliens, and bizarre planets, all in their quest for the ultimate plunder: ice!
On their journey, the pirates encounter an assortment of zany characters, including a beautiful and fierce princess, a robot with a taste for mischief, and a band of Templars with a peculiar fascination for castration. With each new encounter, the crew finds themselves in even more outrageous situations, blending slapstick comedy filled with fun action.
