Retro Trailer For Will Wheaton's 1987 Lovecraftian Horror Film THE CURSE
This week’s retro trailer is for the 1987 Will Wheaton horror film The Curse, which is loosely based on H.P. Lovecraft’s The Colour Out of Space.
The story follows a farming family whose land and water supply become poisoned after a strange meteorite crashes nearby, unleashing a grotesque transformation.
As paranoia and madness spread, the family descends into chaos while the mysterious contamination consumes everything around them.
When it was released, the film was largely dismissed by critics and audiences, criticized for its uneven pacing, low-budget execution, and weak adaptation of Lovecraft’s story.
While it has gained a small cult following among fans of ’80s B-movie horror, it’s generally remembered as a forgettable entry in the era’s wave of Lovecraft-inspired cinema, but when I first saw it as a kid, I actually liked it, and if you’ve never seen it, it might be worth checking out.
