Retro VHS Covers For GAME OF THRONES, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, and More
I'm not sure what the average age of GeekTyrant readers is, but this one's for those of you who are old enough to remember walking the aisles of Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, or your video store of choice scanning the covers of VHS tapes to try to choose what movie you were going to watch that night. There were movies I watched solely because of the box art, and it's a much different feeling being able to pick something up and hold it in your hand than the modern equivalent of scrolling past a digital image on Netflix.
Flavorwire points us to a Tumblr called Stan VHS, in which the writer of this French article (English version here) apparently created a fake hipster persona for April Fools' Day who only watches popular movies and TV shows on VHS. The backstory doesn't really matter as much as the images themselves, which are spectacular fake mock-ups of what things like Game of Thrones, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, and Interstellar would have looked like if they had come out in the '80s and were found on the shelves of one of those video stores.
