Retro Video Offers a Behind-The-Scenes Look at the Creation of The 80s Classic DRAGON'S LAIR
Don Bluth’s classic 1983 video game Dragon’s Lair is one of my all-time favorite games when I was growing up. I had never seen anything like it before at the time and it just captured my imagination. It was a cool game with a fun, goofy and adventurous character on a mission to save a princess from an evil dragon.
We actually recently talked about the game on our podcast Secret Level. We dive into the history of the game and how it was made. We offer some fun and interesting details on Dragon’s Lair and if you’re a fan of the game, you should check it out!
In my research on that episode, I came across a couple of videos that give us a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the game and I wanted to share them with you here because it’s pretty cool to get a look into how this game was created.
The first two-part video is a retro news report. The other is a 20 year anniversary video where the creators take a look back at the game.
"Dragon's Lair: The fantasy adventure where you become a valiant knight, on a quest to rescue the fair princess from the clutches of an evil dragon. You control the actions of a daring adventurer, finding his way through the castle of a dark wizard, who has enchanted it with treacherous monsters and obstacles. In the mysterious caverns below the castle, your odyssey continues against the awesome forces that oppose your efforts to reach the Dragon's Lair. Lead on, adventurer. Your quest awaits!"
