Review: BAD CUPID Is a Fun and Unconventional RomCom Starring John Rhys-Davies
I got the chance to preview the movie Bad Cupid, starring John Rhys-Davies (The Lord of the Rings trilogy) as Archie, a foul-mouthed and violent Cupid. He intervenes in the love life of Dave (Shane Nepveu), a guy who is still hung up on his ex-girlfriend a year after she dumped him. Even though his cousin Morris (Briana Marin) has done everything she can to lift his spirits and get him to move on, he remains immovable in his devotion.
But once faced with the option to break up his ex’s wedding and give her the “movie moment” she had hoped for in their relationship, he doesn’t know if he can actually go through with it.
This movie was silly and was a good alternative for those looking for something different this Valentine’s Day. It’s not too deep, and it doesn’t take itself too seriously. I also was pleased that the film delivered a couple of twists that I didn’t see coming in a genre that doesn’t usually offer many surprises.
Marin’s character Morris was my favorite character in the film, and though the movie felt low budget, it still delivered some enjoyable moments. Bad Cupid is available On Demand and Digital HD starting today, February 12th.
