Review: BLACK WIDOW Delivers Awesome Action, Big Heart, and a Great Story!

Marvel movies are back and they relaunch with Black Widow! It seems like we’ve been waiting forever for this movie, and I’m happy to say that it was well worth the wait! Black Widow delivers everything that you expect to see from a Marvel film! It delivers awesome epic action sequences, a fantastic story, and a lot of heart.

I couldn’t be happier with how this movie turned out. I have to admit, after waiting for so long to see the movie, seeing the same footage of the film over and over again over the past year-and-a-half my excitement was waning a bit. But, as soon as the movie started I was completely sucked back into the MCU, and it took me on an incredible and wild ride of greatness!

I know we’ve had the Disney+ Marvel shows to keep us busy and entertained over the past several months, but to see movie quality Marvel back in full force was a real treat. It also reminds you there is a big noticeable difference in quality between the shows and the films. Don’t get me wrong, the shows have been great, but the Marvel movies are just so much bigger and better!

I was incredibly happy with the story that Black Widow told as it sheds some much-needed light on Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff and her backstory. It fills in some of the big gaps of her story and at the same time introduces us to some amazingly fun new characters including David Harbour’s Alexei Shostakov, a.k.a. Red Guardian, Rachel Weisz as Melina Vostokoff, and Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova.

David Harbor fit the role of Red Guardian perfectly, he was absolutely fantastic and brought some amusing humor to the film. I was so happy when Rachel Weisz was cast in this movie. She’s such a great actress and it’s always fun to see her in these kinds of playful roles. Then there’s Florence Pugh as Yelena, and she completely stole the show!

While the movie is titled Black Widow, and Johansson was great in the role as always, Pugh just shined all the way through the film. Her character was the heart of the film, and Pugh managed to bring an emotional weight to her character. At the same time, she was so freakin’ funny with the humorous aspect of her character. Yelena is a new favorite Marvel character, and I can’t wait to see how her story arc plays out in the upcoming MCU projects that she’s a part of.

The film also features a badass villain that doesn’t make things easy for the heroes of the story. Taskmaster mimics all of the fighting styles of the Avengers, which is what makes the character so hard to fight. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding the villainous Taskmaster, and fans have been speculating who the person behind the mask might be. Well, all your questions will be answered! You’ll just have to wait to watch the movie to see how the story plays out.

I just enjoyed every single second of sitting in a movie theater watching Black Widow! This movie is 100% meant to be seen on the big screen. I know Disney is offering you the option to watch it at home, but don’t watch it at home! Go watch it in a theater with a bunch of other Marvel fans because it makes the movie and the experience so much more fun! On top of that, this movie is big and the action pieces are so cool, and watching them on the big screen is going to be so much better than watching it at home.

Marvel has delivered another great movie with Black Widow, and there’s no doubt that the fans are going to enjoy the crazy ride that it takes you on! The movie is an absolute blast!

And in case you were wondering, yes… there is one post-credits scene at the end of the film that sets up a very interesting story arc!
