Review: Bob Odenkirk's NOBODY is an Absolute Blast!
This weekend I actually had the opportunity to go see a movie at my local movie theater! It’s been over a year since I walked in and sat through a movie at the AMC Theaters in Burbank, CA! But it’s open back up again and it felt like home. It was really weird being back at the movie theater, but I enjoyed every second of it!
The movie that I went out to see this weekend was the new action thriller Nobody. The movie was created by John Wick creator and writer Derek Kolstad and Hardcore Henry director Ilya Naishuller. It stars Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) as a seemingly normal suburban husband and dad named Hutch, who has a dark past as a vicious and deadly “auditor”.
The movie follows Hutch as he descends back into his brutal fighting ways which starts after two thieves break into his home one night. He tried really hard to leave his crazy life behind him, but he snaps and finds himself up against an army of Russian mobsters, the leader of which he inadvertently pissed off.
Hutch’s “long-simmering rage, triggering dormant instincts and propelling him on a brutal path that will surface dark secrets and lethal skills. In a barrage of fists, gunfire and squealing tires, Hutch must save his family from a dangerous adversary —and ensure that he will never be underestimated as a nobody again.”
I’m happy to report that this movie is freakin’ awesome! It’s packed full of badass action and it is the perfect film to welcome movie fans back into theaters! I had such a blast watching the movie that I actually ended up watching it twice in one day. Yeah, I know that may sound a little crazy, but I haven’t been able to experience movies like this in theaters in over a year!
Odenkirk was so damn good in the movie, he gave such a great performance. When he was first cast in the lead role of the film, it was hard to imagine him as a badass action star, but he totally pulled it off and I hope that he ends up making more films like this! I think his acting career is about make a big shift thanks to this movie. His performance and fighting skills would rival Keanu Reeves and now these two need to star in an action film together.
Nobody wasn’t only filled with action, but there was a lot of funny humor thrown into it as well that had me laughing through several parts of the film. I also just want to point out that Christopher Lloyd (Back To The Future) is in this movie. I don’t want to spoil his role in the film, but I will say he was one of my favorite parts, and this is easily the best thing he’s done since Back To The Future! His role in the film made me so happy, and if you’ve seen the movie, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
The movie also stars Connie Nielsen (Wonder Woman), Gage Munroe (The Shack), and Russian actor Aleksey Serebryakov (Amazon’s McMafia). It also features RZA.
If you haven’t been to the theater to watch Nobody yet, go see it! I promise this movie does not disappoint in any way. It’s the best and most fun movie that you’ll see this year, so far.
