I got the opportunity to review a copy of the new board game Disney Hocus Pocus: The Game that was graciously sent to me by Ravensburger this past week. The game is described as follows:

Work together to stop the Sanderson sisters from draining the lives of Salem’s children by ruining their potion before the sun rises. This quick-to-play, cooperative game includes your favorite spells and quotes from the film, as well as a special appearance from Binx the cat.

This was a super easy game to set up, and the thing I liked best about it was the cooperative style that lets players work together to win. The method made it much easier for me to catch on quickly, and I was excited to collaborate and win once we realized that we needed to conserve our ingredient cards. The object is to play cards in the cauldron to make a complete spell that will render a witch defenseless. That ends a round of play, and pushes the sun token higher in the sky, which is the goal for winning the game.

The game takes a round or two to get used to as you battle the witches, who can cast spells to set you back, or limit your communication with other players. Once you get the hang of it, the game moves quickly and is really fun.

Fans of the movie will get a kick out of the familiar characters and potion ingredient names, as well as the help from the lovable cat Binx, who can assist players on their path.

This is a great game for bigger kids up through adults, and I see us playing over and over in the future. Check out some photos of the game below, and pick up your copy of Disney Hocus Pocus: The Game available for $19.99 this month online and in stores.
